“Wait. Do I need an attorney for my prenup or not?”

In many states, you are not required to hire an attorney. However, in some states, attorney advice or representation is required for enforcement of certain clauses.

Example: In California, if you choose to waive spousal support, you must be represented by an attorney at the time of signing the prenuptial agreement. HelloPrenup will connect you with an attorney directly in your account to sign off on this. If you choose to waive or modify spousal support, plan on adding Representation for each partner to your agreement’s total price.

In many other cases, courts will look at whether or not you or your future spouse had the opportunity to obtain legal advice. In addition,  and whether one or both of you were represented by an attorney or waived that legal advice and/or representation.

Additional things a court could consider:

Was there enough time to find an attorney before the wedding and you chose not to?

Did you just sign the agreement without even reading it the night before the wedding without an opportunity to consult a lawyer?

Or, did you choose to waive attorney review altogether?

HelloPrenup has partnered with vetted attorneys to offer legal support should you request it based on clauses or preference.*

“Why are attorney services priced separately from the prenup?”

Every prenup is unique. At HelloPrenup, we believe you should only hire an attorney should you require, or prefer it.

That’s why we offer attorney support as an add-on service.

Our partnered services with attorneys are designed to keep your prenup as cost-effective as possible. These attorneys are familiar with the HelloPrenup process and standing by to support at any time.

Who needs Attorney Support?
Many people come to us asking if you need a lawyer for a prenup to be considered valid and enforceable. State law controls this answer, so what is required in California may not be the same requirements in New York. In some states, having a lawyer can work in your favor if your prenup is ever challenged in court, although it’s not really a requirement. Let’s dig deeper into this topic below.
Which attorney should I choose?
In HelloPrenup, choosing a lawyer for your prenuptial agreement is a straightforward and effective process. We start by understanding your specific needs and geographic location to provide you with a list of highly qualified lawyers in your area. You can review lawyers’ profiles, and read reviews from other clients. Furthermore, all the lawyers on our platform specialize in prenuptial agreements and family law, giving you the peace of mind that you are working with experts in the field. Our platform simplifies the selection of a lawyer for your prenuptial agreement, providing you with all the tools and information you need to make the best decision.
What can a prenup attorney help me with?
An attorney specializing in prenuptial agreements with HelloPrenup plays a crucial role in providing tailored legal guidance and support. Whether you have questions that need individualized answers or require a one-on-one consultation, these attorneys are well-equipped to address your concerns. They can navigate complex issues such as spousal support, child custody, and other marital matters, guiding you through the negotiation process to reach a balanced and just agreement. Moreover, HelloPrenup’s legal professionals can meticulously review, modify, and maintain existing prenuptial agreements to ensure their ongoing relevance and legal compliance. With their extensive knowledge and experience, you can confidently make informed choices and enjoy financial security within the context of your marriage.
How quickly can I get attorney support?
HelloPrenup, we understand the importance of swift legal support. Throughout the process of answering your questionnaire and crafting your prenuptial agreement, you have the option to have a real-time question-and-answer session with an attorney, ensuring that your queries and concerns are addressed promptly. Moreover, once you’ve obtained your prenuptial agreement, our platform makes it easy to schedule a session with an attorney with just one click. During this session, your attorney can assist in making any necessary changes, oversee the signing process, and ensure that your prenup is precisely tailored to your desires, all in a timely and efficient manner. Your legal needs are our priority, and we strive to provide quick, hassle-free access to expert advice and support.
What do other attorneys cost compared to HelloPrenup?

The cost of legal services, especially when it comes to crafting and signing prenuptial agreements, can vary significantly. Traditional legal routes may involve hiring an attorney whose fees can range from $2,000 to $20,000, which can be a considerable financial burden. In contrast, HelloPrenup offers an accessible and cost-effective solution, with options to have a question-and-answer session with an attorney for just $49 or to have your prenuptial agreement reviewed, amended, and signed for only $699. This means that you can receive expert legal counsel and get your prenup in place without the exorbitant costs typically associated with traditional legal services. HelloPrenup aims to make the legal process fair, efficient, and financially manageable for all.
