Does Jessica Biel Have a Prenup?

Oct 10, 2024 | Celebrity

You may know and love Jessica Biel from her work starring in several famous movies and television shows (7th Heaven anyone?!). Or you may have heard of Jessica Biel more recently, due to her marriage with Justin Timberlake and the ways in which this marriage is (allegedly!) being put under strain by a string of controversies that Timberlake has gotten involved with. Either way, read on for the full scoop regarding Jessica Biel’s marriage to Justin Timberlake, including our prediction for whether or not they have a prenup!

Who is Jessica Biel?

Jessica Biel is an American actress who has, more recently, turned to production. Her career began at the age of 14 when she was cast in the hit family show 7th Heaven as Mary Camden. Shortly after, she was cast in starring roles in the movies Ulee’s Gold, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, and The Rules of Attraction, the latter of which has gained a cult following in recent years. Biel’s career began in earnest when she joined the cast of the famous (or infamous?) movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre as the main character, Erin. This role was followed by a string of starring roles in box-office hits, including Blade, Stealth, Cellular, Elizabethtown, The Illusionist, Valentine’s Day, and New Year’s Eve

As previously mentioned, Biel’s more recent work has been in her capacity as a producer. She stated in an interview with The New York Times that she wanted to become a producer because she wanted to “[put] the power back into [her] own hands” and because, as an actress, she felt as though she was “sitting around waiting for somebody to deliver something amazing to [her], which is very rare.” She began producing with the movie The Book of Love and has recently produced The Sinner, Cruel Summer, Candy, and the forthcoming series The Better Sister

Biel has also earned recognition for her work in philanthropy. In 2006, she raised money to help pay for the medical bills that Molly Bloom, a teenager, faced as a result of injuries incurred by a car crash. She founded the “Make a Difference Network,” which brings together resources to pay for charitable endeavors, and in 2010, she climbed to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise public awareness of the global water crisis.

Jessica Biel’s relationship history

Jessica Biel’s work has taken her to the highest echelon of Hollywood fame. For this reason, it is fitting that her dating history is star-studded. Biel began a relationship with Chris Evans of Captain America in 2001. They dated until their split in 2006. Biel was rumored to have been involved with baseball player Derek Jeter beginning shortly after her split with Evans, until 2007. In 2007, Biel met actor and musician Justin Timberlake at a party — and the rest is history.

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake’s relationship timeline

Let’s face it: Justin Timberlake needs no introduction. Let’s skip his bio and dive right into his relationship history with Jessica Biel. As we noted earlier, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel met in January 2007. At the time, both Biel and Timberlake had just emerged from serious relationships and were not looking to dive into one another. But they did — in May 2007, Justin Timberlake told PEOPLE magazine that he was “in love” with Biel. They were dating seriously for a few years up until March 2011, when they split up.

But some time later, in November 2011, they reunited. Very shortly after, in December of that same year, they got engaged. In October 2012, they were officially married, and they had a ceremony in Italy to celebrate. In 2015, they had their first child, Silas, and in 2021, they had another child, Phineas. They are still married to this day (Congrats, lovebirds!).

Jessica and Justin’s prenup

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake were married in 2012, at a time when they had already both achieved considerable success in their careers. Reportedly, Jess and Justin did get a prenup before they tied the knot. For those not in the know, a prenup (or prenuptial agreement) is a written contract between two people who are planning to get married. This contract lays out a set of rules regarding each partner’s assets, debts, and other topics. When a couple signs a prenup before marriage, the prenup dictates the rules upon divorce instead of the default state divorce laws in whatever state they are in.

Allegedly, Jess and Justin’s prenup includes an infidelity clause which awards Jessica $500,000 if he cheats. Make no mistake, the $500k is only for the infidelity, there’s also likely other clauses in there to award her more in other areas, such as alimony, lump sum clauses, or asset distribution. Given that Justin Timberlake’s net worth is reportedly hovering around $250 million, and Jessica Biel’s net worth is reportedly around $20 million, it makes sense!

The bottom line on Biel’s prenup

Whether you have a combined net worth of $270 million like the Timberlakes or just $270, we believe that it makes sense for every couple to get a prenup–you never know what the future holds! Plus, you already have a prenup… marriage is a legal agreement with financial implications, and the default law in the state where you get a divorce is your prenup! While there’s no reason to believe JT and Jessica are divorcing any time soon, it’s good to know they have protections in place no matter what curveballs lie ahead.

You are writing your life story. Get on the same page with a prenup. For love that lasts a lifetime, preparation is key. Safeguard your shared tomorrows, starting today.
