So you’ve heard the rumor that Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are going through tough times in their marriage — we’re here to tell you that it’s not true… or at least as far as we know, it’s not true. The question is still circulating, though–do they have a prenup? We have all the answers on whether or not they have a prenup and what would happen if they got a divorce without one, so keep reading!
Who are Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher?
If you don’t know who Mila Kunis or Ashton Kutcher are, we’re not going to say that you’ve been living under a rock, but… With starring roles in several incredibly popular movies and television shows, Kunis and Kutcher are a couple of the most famous actors of the 21st century so far. Kunis has starred in several culturally significant rom-coms, such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Friends with Benefits, and Ted, as well as a few critically acclaimed films, including Black Swan.
Kutcher also has attained bona fide movie star status with his starring roles in That 70’s Show, Just Married, Guess Who, Two and a Half Men, and, of course, Dude, Where’s My Car? They are both also models and business moguls. We can’t talk about Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher without mentioning how they met–on camera for the 90s sitcom– That 70’s Show, where they played on-again, off-again couple Kelso and Jackie.
Rumors about their separation
Let’s do a quick rundown of Mila Kunis’ and Ashton Kutcher’s relationship. Kunis and Kutcher met on the set of That 70’s Show in 1998, when Kutcher was 20 and Kunis was 15. However, it would be years until they would begin dating — fourteen years, in fact. In 2012, Kunis and Kutcher had a run-in at the Golden Globe Awards, and shortly afterward, in April, they began dating. Relatively soon afterward, in early 2014, Kunis and Kutcher got engaged. That October, they had their first child, and in 2015, they were officially married in California. They had another child in 2016.
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have dealt with breakup rumors for a long time. In 2019, similar rumors were shut down by the couple directly when they posted a video to Instagram holding up a copy of a tabloid magazine and mocking the front cover, which alleged that their relationship was over. For the time being, it appears that the most recent breakup rumors surrounding the couple are just another false alarm.
Do they have a prenup?
We aren’t sure whether or not Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have a prenup. When they got married in 2015, they were already both very famous and wealthy. In the olden days, it was believed that famous celebrities like Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher were the only ones who should consider getting prenups (spoiler alert: this is fake news). However, we at HelloPrenup believe that everyone who is planning on getting married, not just the rich and famous, should seriously consider getting a prenup with their soon-to-be spouse. Why? A prenup can help you and your spouse clarify certain financial matters and ascertain how exactly each partner would want their assets to be split up in the case of divorce. Even if your assets do not include multimillion-dollar properties, they are still important and still worth protecting in the unfortunate event a marriage does not work out.
What happens if they divorce without a prenup?
As previously mentioned, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher reside in the state of California. California is a “community property state,” a designation that refers to the state’s property division laws that take effect in the case that a married couple divorces. If a married couple in California gets divorced, (generally) everything that both partners acquired during the marriage — income, property, or other financial or business assets — will be split 50/50 between each partner. This means that even if only one of the partners earned the income or only one of the partners paid for a piece of property, these assets are still considered “community property” and will be divided equally between both partners.
The bottom line
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are a match made in heaven. They met on That 70’s Show, where they played a sitcom couple, and just a few relationships and years later (14 to be exact), tied the knot and had some babies. It’s unclear whether or not they had a prenup, but either way, as far as we know, they aren’t separating, so there’s no need to worry! Even if they did separate, we’d hope that we were getting Punk’d because they’re one of our fave celeb couples!
