Vanessa Hudgens’ Relationship and Prenup

Oct 5, 2024 | Celebrity

Whether you know Vanessa Hudgens from her High School Musical days or her more recent roles in Spring Breakers and Tick, Tick… Boom, you may be wondering what she’s been up to lately. Beyond welcoming a second child, she also seems to have a great relationship with her MLB hubby, Cole Tucker. Vanessa Hudgens and Cole Tucker were married in 2023, and if you’re wondering about their prenup, so were we. We’re not sure if they have a prenup, but we can get you our prenup prediction on what went into that agreement if they did have one.

Who is Vanessa Hudgens?

Vanessa Hudgens is a model, actress, and singer who is best known for her starring role in the “High School Musical” movies as Gabriella Montez. She made her film debut at the age of fifteen in the film Thirteen, and shortly after starred in “High School Musical,” which brought her considerable fame at an early age. More recently, she has continued to gain prominence as an actress with roles in movies such as “Spring Breakers” and “Tick…Tick… Boom.”

Who is Vanessa Hudgens’ ex-boyfriend?

You’ve probably heard of this one: Vanessa Hudgens’ ex-boyfriend is actor Austin Butler. Their relationship began in 2011 and ended in 2020. The split is rumored to have occurred due to both actors’ conflicting schedules, which forced most of their relationship to be long-distance. Maybe it was for the best that Vanessa said farewell to Butler before he got into character as Elvis for three years

Is Vanessa Hudgens currently in a relationship?

Yes! Vanessa Hudgens is currently married to Cole Tucker. Cole Tucker is a professional baseball player who is, as of 2024, playing for the Los Angeles Angels as a shortstop and outfielder. Previously, he played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Colorado Rockies. Vanessa and Cole — otherwise known as Vole (we’re still developing our couple name) — form a quite formidable power couple, spanning the worlds of Hollywood film and professional baseball. Let’s dive into the history of their romance!

Vanessa and Cole’s relationship timeline

After splitting up with Austin Butler in 2020, Vanessa found herself in a similar situation to the rest of us, as COVID-19 took its toll on the country and paused all ordinary social activities. At this time, Vanessa was taking part in a Zoom meditation class (remember those?!) when she spotted Cole Tuckers across the… er… screen. At some point in the Zoom meditation group, Tucker sent an image of himself playing baseball to the Zoom group chat, and without realizing that Tucker was the man in the image, Hudgens texted “Hot” into the group chat. Sometime later, she decided to make the first move — way to go, Vanessa! — by sliding into his Instagram DMs. By early 2021, they were Instagram official and describing their budding love in interviews, with Hudgens stating that she was in an “amazing, healthy relationship.”

Throughout 2021, Hudgens and Tucker continued dating, making time for each other despite their conflicting busy schedules. They became each other’s cheerleaders, taking turns attending each other’s big days, with Tucker attending Hudgens’ premieres and Hudgens attending Tucker’s games. This continued for a couple of years, with Vanessa gushing about Tucker in various interviews. She also mentioned that while she thought she would be married by 25, she was happy with her current relationship. Could this have been some kind of hint that she wanted Tucker to propose?

In early 2023, it came to light that Tucker had proposed to Hudgens. This rumor was confirmed in February when Hudgens posted a photograph of the two of them embracing in Paris and another photograph of her diamond engagement ring. According to Hudgens, she had “dropped hints” about the kind of ring she wanted. Hudgens stated: “I was like, ‘I want a gold band with an oval diamond.’” That’s quite the hint! And, in July 2024, Hudgens gave birth to her and Tucker’s first child.

Do they have a prenup?

As of right now, no official information is available online about whether or not Vanessa Hudgens and Cole Tucker have a prenup. However, we suspect that Vanessa and Cole do have a prenup. With plenty of assets worth protecting on both sides, the financially savvy thing for Hudgens and Tucker to do would be to get a prenup. This would ensure that each person’s assets are divided in a way that they both approve of in the case of divorce. It could also outline the way other matters are handled during the marriage, such as joint bank accounts, tax filing, and other issues.

Getting a prenup does not indicate a lack of faith in a relationship or a lack of trust in one’s partner. Instead, it indicates that one is willing to take steps to ensure that their own financial stability is protected AND their partner’s, no matter what the outcome of marriage is. In addition, even if you or your partner’s assets are not quite as lavish as Vanessa Hudgens’ assets, it is still important to protect them.

Our prenup prediction

For some context, let’s first talk about the couple’s reported income and assets. For the 2024 MLB season, Cole Tucker signed a contract with the Los Angeles Angels for $740,000. This was his highest-paying contract to date. Vanessa Hudgens’ income information is not available online, but she has multiple potential sources of income. It is highly possible that she is still making residual income from her work starring in “High School Musical,” which continues to be a well-known and highly profitable franchise. However, he has since retired from baseball as of 2025.

In addition, Hudgens has collected income from brand deals with Fabletics, turned a profit via her passion for flipping houses, and has attained further fame from her work as a model. In fact, when it comes to Vanessa Hudgens’ side hustles, the list could go on. Vanessa also created Caliwater, a cactus water business, with a friend and started Know Beauty, a skincare brand with well-known influencer Madison Beer.

So, what did they likely put into their prenuptial agreement? Ensuring both parties’ income stays separate, such as Cole’s MLB income and Vanessa’s brand deals. In addition, any of Vanessa’s business assets were likely earmarked as separate. What they do with community property is unclear. Maybe they want to create community property together to grow wealth as a unit. Or maybe they didn’t want any community property to accumulate and for each party to get back what they put in. Totally a coin flip depending on their personalities, relationship, and personal goals.

The bottom line on Vanessa Hudgens’ prenup

The moral of the story? We don’t know if she had a prenup with her new man, Cole Tucker, but if she did, we have some pretty solid guesses on what went into it — such as Vanessa protecting her brand deals, while Cole protects his MLB income. Either way, we’re stoked for them and welcoming their second child to the mix and wish them a lifetime of happiness, prenup or not!
