Why Prenups

The idea for HelloPrenup was born from Julia’s experience working at Boston family law firm, where she saw first-hand the importance of prenuptial agreements in protecting individuals and their assets in the event of a divorce. However, she also noticed that the traditional process of getting a prenup was often expensive, time-consuming, and intimidating for many couples.
Determined to make the prenuptial agreement process more accessible and affordable, Julia set out to find a solution using technology and HelloPrenup was born. Through the user-friendly online platform, couples can create a custom prenuptial agreement in a matter of hours, rather than months. HelloPrenup also offers a variety of resources and educational materials to help couples better understand the prenuptial agreement process.
Empowering Couples to Protect Their Love: Story of Julia and HelloPrenup
“HelloPrenup offers a safe online space full of valuable information that is easily digestible, contributed by experts” Julia says.
“I always enjoyed talking through the details of a prenup with clients to better understand their values and why this document was important to them. Over the years, I have seen a shift in engaged couples opting for a prenup more readily, and in doing so, looking for a more collaborative process. For example, many potential clients would ask me why they had to each hire an attorney to draft a prenup, when both parties agreed on the terms. I always heard, “No offense, but isn’t there an easier way to do this?”
Through feedback from potential clients and clients, Julia realized that using technology to create a more collaborative, fast, and cost effective prenup was necessary. “Couples are preparing to spend their lives together and a prenup should be a document they work on together directly,” Julia says.
HelloPrenup has been featured on Shark Tank, in the Boston Globe, Forbes, The New Yorker, Geekwire, CNN Business, among many others.
HelloPrenup has quickly become a leading source of online information and access to prenuptial agreements services, and has helped countless couples protect their assets and plan for their futures. The platform operates in 32+ states and counting. Julia’s innovative approach to legal technology has earned her recognition as a leader in the industry and she continues to work tirelessly to make the legal system more accessible and user-friendly for all.

“We’re giving them the power back — or allowing them to create the draft together as a couple, in unison — and then take that draft to an attorney if they want legal advice,” Julia adds.
